Reid has been active in Unitarian Universalist churches for over 40 years. He and his wife, Jane, became members of UUCSC in 2004.

Reid and Jane celebrated their 44th wedding anniversary in 2023. They have one son, Ryan, who lives with his wife, Hannah, in Portland, OR.

Reid was a music teacher for twenty-five years. In 1998 he began working in human resources at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, and then at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. As a Performance and Learning Consultant in the Organization Development Department at C-S, Reid led training and team development in “soft” skills: Crucial Conversations, emotional intelligence, conflict management, and effective interpersonal communications. He retired from C-S in 2021.

Reid is enjoying retirement, finding time for various activities, including singing with the Metropolitan Master Chorale, gardening, and reading. He is also an avid quilt maker and is learning how to do machine embroidery. In addition, he and Jane are enthusiastic travelers.
