Most Distinguished Teacher: Death

A few months ago, I spoke about the work of Atul Gawande, who wrote “Being Mortal”, a must-read for anyone who has aging relatives or wishes to plan deliberately for your end-of-life quality-of-life – in other words, everyone!

This Sunday, however, I will more deeply focus on death in more spiritual terms, and how it can inform the way we live.

I will miss being with you next Sunday for Memorial weekend Sunday, a time when we not only honor our country’s fallen servicemen and women, but when we also might remember all those who have died in our family and community.

So I’m talking about death in advance of this holiday, when my revered colleague the Rev. Anne Hines will visit our pulpit and honor the primary reason for the holiday on May 28.

Looking forward to seeing you in church!

Rev. Hannah
